Murat KURUM was born in Ankara in 1976 .
He completed his primary and secondary education in Ankara. He graduated from Konya Selçuk University, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Department of Civil Engineering in 1999. He completed his master's degree on Urban Transformation in 2017 .
He worked in various private institutions between 1999 and 2005. He worked as an expert at TOKİ Ankara Implementation Department between 2005 and 2006 , as the European Side Implementation Branch Manager at TOKİ Istanbul Implementation Department between 2006 and 2009 , and as the General Manager and Board Member of Emlak Konut GYO A.Ş., a subsidiary of the Republic of Turkey Prime Ministry Mass Housing Administration between 2009 and 2018 .
After serving as the Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change between 2018 and 2023 , he was elected as the AK Party Istanbul Deputy in the 28th Term. He served as the President of the TBMM Environment Commission.
He was reappointed as Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change on July 2, 2024 .
Murat KURUM is married and has 3 children. He speaks English.
